Well the weekend came and went without too many hiccups I would say! It’s always interesting with so many people in a small place, and the weather wasn’t the greatest, but it felt good to catch up with all of the families and celebrate with Max and his moves on to the next step in his life.
Thursday night we started off the weekend on the right foot by heading to Pizza Populous in downtown Toledo with the 7 of us to enjoy some good food and laughs since we weren’t heading up to the lake until Friday morning. The pizza is so yummy there, I think I could eat their weekly with no issues what so ever! We sat around for awhile enjoying each other’s company. Even Jeff was good and only started wandering towards the end.
I got up Friday at my normal time and worked out and then got myself ready to take off. It’s amazing how much goes into 3 days at the lake! But we managed and left at 745 which of course was ahead of schedule!!! Made a few stops along the way but we arrived at the lake with plenty of time for me to get lunch stuff around and get our room back in working order. There wasn’t much sun, but we all enjoyed sitting out, going through Julia’s garage sale stuff, sharing stories, and laughing…man was there laughing. Rocks were hauled in and moved with the help of the guys, I got a nap in…it was just a wonderful afternoon of nothing really, but those are the best kind. We had a winey bake for dinner…not my fave, but the corn was out of this world! Jeff & I spent some time driving around since he wouldn’t eat, but it was fun. Jeff & I were even asleep before the fireworks started!!!
Saturday was another fun filled day… Got my workout in and done with before 11 so I was happy, Jeff took a very early nap since he was grouchy, some of the guys went golfing, had a wonderfully yummy Mexican lunch, made a trip to Shipshewana with John & Steph & Jeff, took a grandkid picture and a huge family picture, celebrated Max graduating from high school… it was a full day of visiting and everyone kind of did their own thing…it was fun.
Thankfully when we awoke on Sunday morning there was SUNSHINE!!!! We were all out all day long enjoying it too. We enjoyed a nice breakfast out at Adam’s lake with everyone, then it was back to the cottage to soak in all the sun we didn’t get over the other days. Nick & I took the kids tubing, on the wave runner… it was great. Jeff got to stay at the lake with Mom & Dad, and Nick & I came home. It was the first time leaving him, but he was in such good hands, it wasn’t a big deal. It was a nice treat since it was our anniversary. The car ride home was quiet and we just enjoyed not having another person in the car, we even went to dinner, and enjoyed the peacefulness. Amazingly we didn’t really even talk, but it was nice to be together and enjoy each others company.
It was nice seeing everyone, but I’m glad it’s over…way too much for me , but they all love coming to the lake too…until next year!
