Summer Is Really Over??!!

Well every year the dock goes in, but it also has to come out! It's always so exciting when we put it in, you know summer is right around the corner, but taking it out is always a little sad, it's the end of summer which means winter is coming! We decided a couple of weeks ago that October 12 would be the day that everything came out, it's really the only date that worked with our schedules. The past few weekends had been gorgeous so we figured when the dock came out it would be rainy or really cold... boy we wrong! We picked the best weekend to take out the dock... it was gorgeous and perfect!

We were suppose to head up Friday night, but dad had to end up working Saturday morning, which was fine. I was kind of glad really because that way Nick could spend time with Jeff since he was going to the Michigan game Saturday. Anyway we went to Cold Keg for dinner Friday night with mom & dad, it was crowded but as always the food was great! After dinner we drove around the airport so Jeff could see all of the planes, he is so much fun to watch since he gets so excited!

Saturday morning Nick left bright and early for the U of M game, he was so excited, like a little kid on Christmas morning. The rest of us all got ready for our day! Steph & John came over early so John could spray the yard, after they left mom & I ran our couple of errands, then we came home and waited for dad to grace us with his presence! Dad got home at 11:30, we quickly loaded the car, then out to Steph & John's we went...Jeff was excited to see them, and the guys got into John's truck so they could head to Mongo and shot dad's new gun he got, and us girls were off to the lake! Jeff was an angel the entire car ride, thank goodness because he was exhausted and I wasn't sure how it would go, but it was fine. After we got to the lake, I let Jeff play for awhile, then he took a nap, I went running, and by the time I was done dad and John were there. When Jeff woke up John & Steph took him to get the power washer over at Julia & Vic's, while dad and I took out the Sea Fisher. Of course I'm sitting and waiting on dad...10 minutes later he's still not in the chanel, turns out the boat ran out of gas. I jumped in the whaler and went to rescue him...the joys of taking stuff out! After we were done though, we all took a nice boat ride. The leaves are beautiful and starting to change colors, it felt great to be on the lake, that's for sure!

Sunday we got up and went to church, then came back and had breakfast. The fun started early! All of the boys helped take the boat out of the water... Jeff got to ride with Grandpa in the boat and Nick and John took the trailer over the boat launch. Jeff was so excited to go with Grandpa in the boat... then he got to ride back in the boat after it was out of the water...he doesn't even know how good he has it! Dad powerwashed the boat, while us kids took the pier out of the water. It's so nice having the guys around to help do things! Jeff enjoyed playing in the sand and helping...it was so much fun!

Look at that smile... you think he was excited?

We were lucky the day was so nice! Jeff was able to enjoy one last play in the sandbox and water for the season and we were able to get our work done...it felt great! Looking forward to next summer...but then my baby will be !

Those are some adorable pictures of Jeff...he's getting so big, but you've caught some fleeting glimpses of babyhood here, too.
